HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT SKILLS REQUIRED BY TECHNICAL EDUCATION ADMINISTRATORS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN NIGER DELTA REGION OF NIGERIA

The study sought to identify the human resources management skills required by technical education administrators for sustainable development in Niger Delta region of Nigerian. The study adopted a survey research design. The population for this study comprised of 54 administrators and 176 lectures of technical education, making a total of 230 respondents for the study. No sampling was made because of the relative small size of the population. A structured questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection and was face-validated by five experts. The reliability of the instrument was established using Cronbach Alpha reliability method to determine the internal consistency of the items and the reliability coefficient was 0.78. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while the null hypotheses were tested using t-test statistic at 0.05 level of signicance. The findings of the study revealed that; the staffing, training and maintenance skills are required of technical education administrators and lecturers for human resources management and sustainable development in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. It was recommended among others that human resources management should be included in the training programmes of technical teachers and school administrators also
workshop training and seminars on human resources management should be organized for teachers and administrators of the region.
